We Are So Close
This is a crucial time for Left Behind in Louisiana. We are so close to finishing the film. The Director's Cut will be finished by the end of February. Our layback session has been booked at Final Frame. Then we must move on to the theatrical and television broadcast cuts. Yes, there is festival and industry interest. Though funding sources for docs have shrunk dramatically over the past few years, demand for fascinating, in-depth and socially-relevant documentaries is strong.

We are committed to taking LBIL to the finish. We can do it. We will do it. Yes, we do need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to Left Behind in Louisiana through our IndieGoGo campaign. Tax-deductible contributions can also be made through our fiscal sponsor,  Women Make Movies.

We Do Need Your Help
So often we are told that we must finish the film, that it has great importance on the documentary film landscape, not just as an exciting work of cinema, but for the valuable light it shines on America's complex and powerful evangelical culture at the grassroots level. It is a world that ultimately has both national and international implications in politics and global policy. Left Behind in Louisiana offers a view from the inside, filmed by outsiders. As a result, the film teems with authenticity, as well as meticulous objective scrutiny, heeding to the highest standards of documentary filmmaking.

Team Dedication
We shot 250 hours of HiDef video over a five-year period. The footage is remarkable. A team of award-winning cinematographers banded together with equally talented sound recordists, and all dedicated themselves to giving their best. It is rare that a film with Left Behind in Louisiana's budget and low-profile manages to sustain such dedication and excellence over a period of seven years. At this point we need only a few days to complete the long-format 98-minute version of the film. This cut (the Director’s Cut) will be useful in the educational market and for community screenings. But to really be competitive, to really be taken seriously by the industry, to be as successful as we know Left Behind in Louisiana can be, we need two additional versions of the film: a shorter 80-90 minute cut for theatrical release and a 54-minute cut for television broadcast. We have reason to believe that Left Behind in Louisiana could do well in both the theatrical and television broadcast markets (in U.S./Canada and in Europe). And we need to satisfy the needs of producer’s reps, sales agents, and distributors; they are the ones who make things happen beyond the world of self-distribution. They are the ones who still hold the cards on a documentary’s visibility and success in the world.

Our Goals Are Realistic
Even with a lagging economy, viewing opportunities for films are expanding as online distribution broadens the distribution field. VOD (Video on Demand) opens up an expanding array of downloadable and streaming options for multi-platform viewing. Broadcast TV remains a good friend to documentaries, and a string of independent cinemas retain a vital interest in screening quality independent films. And, even with ever-changing media, DVD sales remain a viable format for documentary feature distribution. Many of these options are readily available to independent filmmakers, which means that films like Left Behind in Louisiana can reach screens worldwide -- on computers, laptops, tablet devices, mobile phones, televisions and cinema screens. Consider the possibilities and the promise -- and a donation!

Investment Has Its Advantages
We’ve done the down-and-dirty work. Driving for hours upon hours on tedious Interstates and unforgiving backroads in crowded vehicles, hoping for the time to catch a shower at the next stop. Waiting in airports indefinitely and suffering any number of delayed and canceled flights. Running from hurricanes. Missing family. And now diligently poring over two-hundred hours of shot footage only 100-110 minutes of which will make it to the final film. Invest in Left Behind in Louisiana.
